These five communities share various services, facilities and organizations including the RCMP, Chamber of Commerce and the Juan de Fuca Recreation Centre.

Esquimalt Harbour
View Royal is surrounded in the south by ocean waterfront along Esquimalt Harbour and borders Saanich in the north-east and Esquimalt in the west at Admirals Road. In the north the community is divided in half by the Trans-Canada Hwy 1 with Thetis Lake Regional Park with Colwood and Langford in the west.

Dr. John Sebastian Helmcken
View Royal is mostly made up of residential properties many with beautiful southerly views towards Esquimalt harbour. The community is home to the Victoria General Hospital located on Helmcken Road which was named after one of the first pioneers, Dr. John Sebastian Helmcken, who was a surgeon for the Hudson's Bay Company in the mid-1800's.

Island Hwy 1A
View Royal's main commercial zone is located along the Island Hwy 1A near the border of Colwood in the west. Here you can find a number of car dealerships, fast food restaurants, the Great Canadian Casino and the Juan de Fuca Recreation Centre. Towards the east on Island Hwy 1A, you can find the Fort Victoria RV Park and Campground, Four Mile House and, at the border with Esquimalt on Admirals Road, the Craigflower Manor and Schoolhouse plus a large Canadian Tire store.

Craigflower Manor and Schoolhouse

Located at the intersection of Admirals and the Old Island Hwy 1A, the Craigflower Manor and Schoolhouse offers the visitor a look back into time of the early settlers, First Nations' people and the relationship of the British Navy in the fortification of Victoria.

View Royal Casino
One of the biggest entertainment attractions in the Capital Regional District resides in View Royal at the Great Canadian Casino. Located on the Old Island Hwy/1A, the Great Canadian View Royal Casino has over 3,252 square metres (35,000 square feet) of gaming space offering slot machines and a wide variety of table games including Blackjack, Fortune Pai Gow, Mini Baccarat, 3 card & 4 card Poker and Roulette.
