Yahk
Yahk is located approximately 42 km (26 miles) east of Creston and 65 km (40 miles) south of Cranbrook on Hwy 3/95. Yahk is situated on the banks of the beautiful Moyie River.

Kingsgate, BC - Eastport, Idaho
The Moyie River flows south to Kingsgate and the USA border town of Eastport, Idaho about 15 minutes away on Hwy 95. Besides Kingsgate there are also the neighbouring villages of Curzon, Ryan, Goatfell and Glenlily that are included in the Yahk community of around 350 people (2005).

Exploring the Countryside
Outdoor recreation is very popular in Yahk with hunting, fishing, wildlife viewing, hiking, biking, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing prevailing throughout the area.

Trans-Canada Trail
For people who like to explore the countryside, the Trans-Canada Trail follows the historic Dewdney Trail at Yahk north to Moyie and westward as it meanders across lower British Columbia.

Walla Walla Trail
Yahk was once an important junction of the historic Dewdney Trail that went from Hope to Fort Steele and the Walla Walla Trail to the American Pacific Northwest linking Canada and the USA.

"The Collectable Highway"
Yahk has always had a colourful nostalgia for visitors travelling in British Columbia. One reason is the all-collectable shops on Hwy 3/95 as it goes through Yahk. If you love antiques and collectables plus finding bargains, "The Collectable Highway" will have something for you.

'I've Bin to Yahk 'N Back'
When you're browsing the many shops in Yahk, make sure you pick up the famous and sought after, 'I've Bin to Yahk 'N Back' T-shirt available at the Grouse Mountain Variety Store. Your friends will really get a good laugh out of it and you'll remember all the fond memories of Yahk.

Yahk-Kingsgate Raft Race
Besides all the recreational activities and antique stores, Yahk is also host to the annual Yahk-Kingsgate Raft Race down the Moyie River. This fun-filled event has been a family favourite for many years.

Moyie River
It usually happens on the first weekend in June depending on the water levels in the Moyie River. You will enjoy hours of entertainment throughout the whole weekend with other events including a pancake breakfast and antique car called," Show & Shine."

Hawkins Creek Watershed
You can explore all over Yahk with some excellent parks and recreational areas in all directions. One favourite is the area directly east of Yahk in the Hawkins Creek watershed. This area is particularly interesting if you like rushing creeks, scenic viewpoints and large amounts of wildlife.

America Creek
Make sure you go to the cascading waterfalls downstream at Canuck Creek FSR along the Hawkins Creek Road. For people who like to hunt, the area around America Creek is very popular in the fall with a large rustic FSR present.

Tourist supplies and conveniences
If you decide to stay awhile in the Yahk region, most tourist supplies and conveniences can be found right in Yahk. There is a general store with gas available plus Yahk Hotel for food or refreshments, riverfront campground or the Cozy Quilt Motel are handy if you don't want to camp.

Yahk Provincial Park
If you like the provincial park campground system, Yahk Provincial Park is located near the Moyie River right at Yahk.
